The Linda Uhai Campaign

linda-uhai-article

The Linda Uhai Campaign fights for the preservation of life as a right that every human being is entitled to, till its natural end. We believe that life begins at conception and ends at natural death. EACLJ has purposed to take part in this campaign as part of its mission and vision, which is to 'Defend life, Freedom and Liberty for all.'

Abortion is still a contentious issue in the new constitution with article 26(4) having created loopholes that need to be sealed.

The Linda Uhai Organizations

Linda Uhai's main aim is to protect the life of the innocent unborn, by fighting abortion. It is to this end that a number of like-minded professionals and organizations have come together. The main objective is to have all the various stakeholders move in the same direction in this war against abortion.

Progress

So far, to kick off the Linda Uhai Campaign, different organizations came together to organize a 'Life Week'.

During the life week, homes for pregnant girls called 'Kiota' were launched. These would help all girls that are either homeless or simply abandoned by their families due to crisis pregnancies. The homes are meant to be an option to abortion for the young girls. A symposium was also held during the Life Week, which saw a discussion of the effects of abortion.

Way Forward

We hope to ensure that the culture of Life is promoted in our society, so that even the most vulnerable persons are protected, nurtured and loved. For this to happen, every single Kenyan must be made to understand that life in whatever form, is precious. This will be achieved through education, reflection, legislation, lobbying and prayer. We will also be a solution to those who find themselves in a crisis, so that they can have a safe and happy environment during their pregnancy.

How can you be a part of this?

Spiritual Support: Pray for mothers in crisis pregnancies and pray also for the life they are carrying. You can hold special prayer meetings for this purpose with your life group or church... or you can intercede for them personally during your private prayer time.

Material Support: Give old baby clothes and maternity clothes. You can also bring beddings, kitchen ware and food which will all go to help the ladies in the pregnancy centers.

KIOTA: Visit the Kiota homes in Kiambuthia, Naivasha, Moi's Bridge and Kwale. You can donate a home or a piece of land that can then be used for the Kiota project. Call 020-2502096 for more information.

Financial Support: Send an SMS to 3773 in the following format. *NAME*COUNTY#. The SMS rates are 20/- . For larger MPESA donations, send to TEL: 0721 376 742. You could also donate an upcountry home that is no longer in use by the family. Girls from all over the country are transported to the nearest available Kiota, so every available home would be extremely useful!
